Dear Colleagues
Appreciating uniqueness is pivotal in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Both the child and family have their uniqueness that guides the how of understanding the person, the symptoms, signs and the management. As such psychiatrists in general and child and adolescent psychiatrists in particular have learned to embrace diversity.
Egypt, the cradle of civilization, has been uniquely endowed with diversity both historically and geographically. As such embracing diversity has been an inherent constituent of its existence for thousands of years. How this has reflected on our practice would be an interesting area for research.
In an era where connectivity across the globe has reached unprecedented levels, diversity became the overarching feature of our ever-changing world. The mass migrations occurring from our part of the world to the rest of the globe is highlighting the challenges pertaining to diversity and accentuating the need to embrace it and learn from.
Serving diverse communities is a reality that we need to be well equipped for. How this diversity will reflect on training programs for CAP, management strategies and attachment to community, is an ongoing process.
With the contribution of our distinguished experts from different disciplines and different countries, this conference promises to be of enormous value, offering an international perspective, a diversified wealth of clinical and evidence based information that could be applied in day-to-day practice.
We very much look forward to welcoming you.
